A painted runner with slip prevention in a multi-generational family vacation home.
This painted staircase was part of a much broader renovation to a family vacation home on Lake Huron. With the kitchen being on the upper level of the home and an extended family encompassing a huge range of ages and mobility levels, a safe (non-slippery) staircase was key - but carpet was not an option. Matt and Nat sourced the custom staircase construction and installation to a specialty company, and then Nat added non-stick texture to the edges of the steps to keep them slip-free. The handrail was stained a dark colour and a painted runner was created to fit the vibe of this fun, family-centred lakeside home.
